"One must not cover those things up. Those who covered this up are guilty, even some bishops who covered it up." Pope Francis on plane back to Europe yesterday morning. "God weeps for the sexual abuse of children. These cannot be maintained in secret." In his final speech to the bishops. 

“I hold the stories and the suffering and the sorry of children who were sexually abused by priests deep in my heart,” Francis said, during a visit to St. Charles Borromeo seminary.

“I remain overwhelmed with shame that men entrusted with the tender care of children violated these little ones and caused grievous harm. I am profoundly sorry. God weeps.”

“The crimes and sins of the sexual abuse of children must no longer be held in secret. I pledge the zealous vigilance of the church to protect children and the promise of accountability for all.”

He did say he pledges a "promise of accountability," which to me means
Prosecute The Bishops 
on a federal level for best results

Meanwhile I think the difference between what the Pope said to the bishops about pedophile priests when he arrived in the U.S. and what he said to them when he left is astounding.
